Notification Overview
The Board published one combined advertisement for contractual posts in two bodies: 22 cadres under the National Health Mission (NHM) and 7 cadres under the Rajasthan Medical Education Society (RajMES). Contractual Nurse is one of the NHM cadres, and the RajMES list has a separate Contractual Nurse Grade-II post with 4,466 vacancies.
Both nursing posts share one exam and one syllabus. Candidates who wanted both had to fill the preference section of the online form, and the Board allotted posts by merit and by the order of preference. The Board later amended the advertisement several times, mainly for application dates and for the vacancy list of some other cadres. Nursing eligibility and the exam scheme did not change in the amendments we reviewed.

Category | Fee |
|---|---|
General and creamy layer OBC or MBC | Rs. 600 |
Non-creamy layer OBC or MBC, EWS, SC and ST of Rajasthan | Rs. 400 |
Persons with disabilities | Rs. 400 |
SC, ST, OBC, MBC and EWS candidates from other states are treated as General for fee purposes. The application steps were:
Open the Recruitment Advertisement section on rssb.rajasthan.gov.in, or log in to the Rajasthan SSO portal.
Complete OTR with your category, disability status and home state, and pay the fee.
Fill the online form for the Contractual Nurse post, including the preference section if you want RajMES posts too.
Submit the form and save the application number and a printout.
Exam Pattern
The exam is a single objective paper with 150 questions of 3 marks each, so the total is 450 marks. You get 150 minutes. Each wrong answer costs 1 mark. Nearly three fifths of the paper tests professional nursing knowledge, which makes subject revision more valuable than general topics. The notification proposed computer-based, tablet-based or OMR-based testing. If the Board holds the exam in more than one shift, it applies normalisation to the scores.
Syllabus Summary

Selection Process
Written exam: the 450-mark MCQ paper decides your rank.
Merit list: the Board prepares a category-wise merit list with preferences and sends it for an eligibility check.
Eligibility check and document verification: the Rajasthan Medical Education Society verifies qualification, registration and category documents.
Final recommendation: the Board recommends the selected candidates to the department with category-wise cut-off marks.
The 2025 process did not include an interview. Appointment is confirmed only after the department finds the candidate eligible.
Salary and Contract Terms
The 2025 notification fixed the honorarium for Contractual Nurse (NHM) at Rs. 18,900 per month. The post is contractual, so the appointment runs for the contract period set by the government and ends on its own when that period ends. The notification describes the contract period as one year or an extended period. It gives no in-hand estimate, and allowances can differ by posting.
How to Prepare
Start with the 270-mark professional section, because it carries the largest share of the paper. Revise GNM topics in the order given in the syllabus, and keep one notebook of short notes for each subject.
Weeks 1 to 8: Cover anatomy, nursing foundations, community health, child health, medical-surgical nursing and midwifery. Read for 30 minutes a day on NHM programmes.
From week 4: Add current affairs and Rajasthan general knowledge for 30 minutes a day, and make monthly notes.
From week 6: Practise English, Hindi and computer questions in short timed sets.
Final phase: Attempt full-length tests in the 150-question format, review wrong answers the same day and revise your error log.
Cut-Off Reference
For the 2025 cycle, the final cut-off in the non-scheduled area was 265.2139 for General (open) candidates and 242.3476 for General women, as published by the Board. Cut-offs change with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants, so treat last year's figures as a benchmark only and aim for a clear margin above them.
