State Government Recruitment

Rajasthan Gram Vikas Adhikari

Rajasthan Gram Vikas Adhikari is a recruitment exam, relevant to candidates preparing for state government department recruitment.

Rajasthan Gram Vikas Adhikari, also called Village Development Officer (VDO), is a Panchayati Raj Department post filled through a direct recruitment exam conducted by the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB), earlier known as the Rajasthan Subordinate and Ministerial Services Selection Board (RSMSSB). A VDO works at the gram panchayat level and handles the paperwork, records and ground-level delivery of rural development schemes.

The latest completed cycle is Advertisement 03/2025 for 850 posts. It followed the two-step route that Rajasthan now uses for many graduate-level posts: candidates first qualify the Common Eligibility Test (CET) Graduation Level, and only then apply for the VDO exam. This page brings together the verified facts from that cycle, explains where the next cycle stands, and gives you a practical way to prepare for the Rajasthan VDO exam.

Latest Update: Where the Next VDO Cycle Stands

The 2025 cycle is complete. The written exam was held on 2 November 2025, the result with category-wise cut-off marks came on 19 December 2025, and the final result was reported in June 2026. As of early November 2026, RSSB has not released a new Gram Vikas Adhikari notification.

  • New posts reported, not notified: Media reports in 2026 mention new VDO posts approved by the Panchayati Raj Department, but the figures differ between reports. Treat any vacancy number for the next cycle as unofficial until RSSB publishes an advertisement.

  • CET Graduation Level 2026: RSSB's CET Graduation Level 2026 (Notification 09/2026) lists Gram Vikas Adhikari among the posts it covers. Applications ran from 4 July to 2 August 2026, and the exam has been rescheduled to 16 to 18 January 2027 (tentative).

  • Which CET will count: The next VDO notification will state which CET result makes you eligible. Do not assume; read that clause first.

Tentative dates come from RSSB's announced schedule and can change. Track the news and results sections of the RSSB website and your registered SSO account.

Eligibility for Rajasthan VDO

Eligibility has four parts, and you must meet all of them on the dates the notification fixes. The full rules, with relaxations, are on the eligibility page.

Educational Qualification

You need a graduation degree from a university established by law in India, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the government. Any stream is accepted.

Computer Qualification

You also need one of the computer qualifications listed in the notification. The 2025 list included the O Level or a higher certificate from DOEACC (now NIELIT), a COPA or DPCS certificate from the National or State Council for Vocational Training, a diploma in computer science or computer applications from a recognised university or institution, and the RS-CIT certificate.

CET Qualification

The 2025 cycle accepted only candidates who had qualified the CET Graduation Level 2024. CET is a screening test; qualifying it does not give you a job, but without it you cannot apply.

Age Limit

Candidates had to be 18 to 40 years old as on 1 January 2026. Because the exam had not been held in the previous three years, the 2025 notification gave every candidate an additional one-time relaxation of 3 years.

Application Fee and How to Apply

Category

Fee (2025)

General, creamy-layer OBC and MBC, candidates from other states

Rs. 600

Non-creamy-layer OBC and MBC, EWS, SC and ST of Rajasthan

Rs. 400

Persons with disabilities

Rs. 400

RSSB collects this fee through its one-time registration (OTR) system on the Rajasthan SSO portal. Check the notification to see whether you need to pay again.

  1. Log in to the SSO portal: Use your SSO ID and open the recruitment portal application.

  2. Complete or update OTR: Check that your name, date of birth, category and photo match your certificates.

  3. Link your CET result: The application uses your CET Graduation Level details, so keep your CET roll number ready.

  4. Fill post and preference details: Enter your qualification, computer certificate and other details carefully.

  5. Pay the fee and submit: Save the final form and fee receipt for document verification later.

Common reasons for rejection at the scrutiny stage include mismatched category certificates, a missing computer certificate, and a degree result that was not declared by the required date.

Rajasthan VDO Exam Pattern

The VDO written exam in the 2025 cycle was a single objective paper with five options per question. The fifth option is for questions you choose not to answer.

Subject

Marks

General Hindi

General English

20

Mathematics

30

General Knowledge (current affairs and general science)

Geography and Natural Resources

30

Agricultural and Economic Resources of Rajasthan

30

History and Culture of Rajasthan

Basic Computer

10

Total (160 questions, 3 hours)

200

What this means for you:

  • Rajasthan GK carries the most weight: Geography, agriculture and economy, and history and culture together carry 90 of the 200 marks.

  • Languages decide close contests: Hindi and English together carry 50 marks and are the fastest marks to secure with practice.

  • Guessing has a cost: A wrong answer costs one-third of that question's marks, and leaving more than 10 percent of questions with no bubble filled, not even the fifth option, can disqualify you.

The 2025 scheme has no separate reasoning section. Older pages may still show the earlier preliminary and main exam structure used in the 2021 cycle, so follow the current notification. See the full Rajasthan VDO exam pattern for marking rules and time planning.

Selection Process

  1. CET Graduation Level: Qualify the CET with the minimum score RSSB prescribes. This step only makes you eligible to apply.

  2. VDO written exam: The 200-mark paper decides your merit position.

  3. Result and scrutiny: RSSB issues category-wise cut-off marks and shortlists candidates, who then submit an application-cum-scrutiny form with documents.

  4. Document verification: Certificates for qualification, computer course, category, domicile and reservation are checked.

  5. Final merit and allotment: The final list follows merit and district preference, separately for Non-TSP and TSP areas.

There is no interview.

Salary and Job Profile

The 2025 notification places the post in Pay Matrix Level 6. New recruits in Rajasthan generally serve a probation trainee period on fixed remuneration as per state rules before regular pay applies. In-hand salary depends on allowances and deductions, so any figure you see elsewhere is indicative, not official.

  • Scheme work: Implementing rural housing, sanitation, employment and pension schemes at the panchayat level.

  • Records and accounts: Maintaining panchayat records, cash books and progress reports.

  • Coordination: Working with the sarpanch, block office and line departments.

Previous Cut-Off Reference

RSSB released the 2025 cut-off with the result. The figures below are for the General sub-category of each main category in the Non-TSP area, out of 200.

Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat these figures as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above them. The full table, including female, widow, ex-servicemen and TSP figures, is on the Rajasthan VDO cut-off page.

How to Prepare for the Rajasthan VDO Exam

A General category cut-off above 160 out of 200 means high accuracy across all sections, not just strong subjects. Plan your preparation in this order.

Build the Rajasthan GK Base First

Start with Rajasthan geography, then history and culture, then agriculture and economy. Use school-level Rajasthan textbooks for the base, and make one-page notes for rivers, canal projects, minerals, folk deities and fairs.

Practise Hindi and Mathematics Daily

Spend 30 to 40 minutes a day on Hindi grammar rules and 20 to 25 maths questions. Both sections reward routine more than long study sessions.

Keep Current Affairs and Computer Short and Regular

Read Rajasthan and national news daily and revise it monthly. Basic computer carries only 10 marks, but MS Office and hardware questions are quick wins.
