This guide gives the category-wise SSC CPO cut off for 2025 and 2024 exactly as published by the Staff Selection Commission, explains how to read these numbers under the new 100-mark Paper 1, and suggests a practical target score.

Three points stand out. Female cut-offs fell in every category in 2025. Male cut-offs stayed close to 2024 levels, and even rose for OBC, EWS and ST. And in 2025, the male ST cut-off was slightly higher than the male SC cut-off, which shows that category order is not fixed from year to year.

How to Read Old Cut-Offs Under the 2026 Pattern

Previous SSC CPO cut-offs were scored out of 200 marks. From 2026, Paper 1 carries only 100 marks, so the raw numbers cannot be compared directly. Converting them into percentages gives a fairer picture.

There is a second change to keep in mind. Under the 2026 notice, final selection and force allocation are based on Paper 2 marks (out of 320) plus any NCC bonus. Final cut-offs from earlier years combined both papers under the old scheme, so they are not a reliable guide for the new final merit list.

SSC CPO Minimum Qualifying Marks 2026

The cut-off is the competitive score that decides who moves ahead. The minimum qualifying marks are the floor below which no one qualifies, whatever the vacancies.

Factors That Will Decide the SSC CPO Cut Off 2026

  • Fewer vacancies: The 2026 notice lists 1,871 tentative posts, far fewer than the 2025 cycle. Fewer seats usually mean tighter competition.

  • New paper structure: A shorter Paper 1 with 15-minute sectional timers may change how candidates score.

  • Number of applicants: More applicants for fewer seats push cut-offs up.

  • Paper difficulty and normalisation: Scores from different shifts are normalised, which affects final cut-off values.

  • Category-wise seats: Each category and gender has its own vacancies, so cut-offs move independently.

  • Part-wise cut-offs: The notice allows SSC to fix separate cut-offs for each part of Paper 1.

What Score Should You Target?

Past UR cut-offs for Paper 1 sat between about 60% and 68% of the maximum marks. Aiming for 70% or more in full-length mock tests (70 out of 100 in Paper 1) gives you a reasonable buffer. This is a practice target based on past trends, not an official prediction. For Paper 2, which now decides your rank, focus on English accuracy, since it carries 200 of the 320 marks.
