SSC CPO Educational Qualification

Post

Essential qualification

SI in Delhi Police and SI (GD) in CAPFs

Bachelor's degree from a recognised university, or equivalent

SI (Fire) in CISF

Bachelor's degree in Science with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics; or Matriculation plus a 3-year diploma in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Automobile, Chemical, Mining, Aeronautical or Telecommunication Engineering

For SI (Fire), a B.Tech or M.Tech in a relevant field is accepted as an added qualification, provided the basic diploma requirement is met.

Can Final-Year Students Apply?

Yes, but with a strict condition. Your final result must be declared on or before 30 September 2026. A result that is still being processed on that date does not count, and your candidature will be cancelled if you cannot prove the qualification at document verification.

Distance and Online Degrees

Degrees earned through Open and Distance Learning are valid for central government jobs if the university was approved by the UGC's Distance Education Bureau for that period. You may be asked to produce proof of this approval. Engineering and other prohibited programmes taken through distance or online mode are not accepted unless specifically recognised.

Equivalent Qualifications

If you claim an equivalent qualification, you must produce an equivalence certificate from the relevant authority when asked. The final decision rests with the user department.

Driving Licence for Delhi Police (Male Candidates)

Male candidates for SI in Delhi Police must hold a valid Light Motor Vehicle licence covering both motorcycle and car on the date of the Physical Endurance and Measurement Test. Without it, you remain fully eligible for CAPF posts; you are only excluded from Delhi Police. The licence must be issued before the PST/PET date.

SSC CPO Eligibility for Ex-Servicemen

  • Age relaxation: 3 years after deducting military service from your actual age on the closing date.

  • Timing: You must hold Ex-Serviceman status when applying, or complete your engagement within one year of the closing date.

  • Non-graduate Ex-Servicemen: A matriculate Ex-Serviceman with at least 15 years of service is eligible only for Ex-Servicemen posts of SI in Delhi Police.

  • Special quota: Half of the Ex-Servicemen quota for SI (Executive) Delhi Police, Male, is reserved for those who served in Special Forces or NSG (Special Action Group), earned a "Qualified Instructor" grading in a commando course, or served in specialised commando units of the Navy or Air Force.

  • Dependants: Sons, daughters and dependants of Ex-Servicemen do not qualify for ESM benefits.

Category Certificate Rules

  • OBC: You must not fall in the creamy layer on 30 September 2026. OBC status granted only by the Delhi government (not in the central list) counts for SI in Delhi Police alone; for other posts you are treated as UR or EWS.

  • EWS: You need an Income and Asset Certificate valid for 2026-27, based on income for the financial year 2025-26.

  • Formats: Certificates must follow the formats annexed to the notice, or your category claim may be rejected.

Other SSC CPO Eligibility Conditions

  • Marriage: A person with a living spouse who enters another marriage is not eligible, unless the Central Government grants an exemption.

  • Training obstacles: After selection, Sub-Inspectors must pass seven obstacle events in training, including the Tarzan swing, monkey crawl and vertical rope. Failing them can lead to removal from the force.

  • Probation: New appointees serve a two-year probation period.
