SSC CPO Study Notes 2026: What to Cover and How to Revise
Subject-wise notes for Reasoning, GK, Quant and English, with a revision plan.
SSC CPO study notes turn a long syllabus into short, revisable material you can go through again and again before the exam. Good notes matter more than ever in 2026. The official SSC notice dated 10 September 2026 introduced sectional timers in both papers and made Paper 2, where English carries 200 of 320 marks, the basis for final merit. You need fast recall across all four subjects, and that comes from well-organised notes.
What SSC CPO Study Notes Should Cover
The same syllabus applies to Paper 1 and Paper 2, with Paper 2 set at a higher level. Your notes should cover every area listed in the official notice.
Subject | Paper 1 weight | Paper 2 weight | Notes priority |
|---|---|---|---|
General Intelligence and Reasoning | 25 marks | 40 marks | Method notes and solved examples |
General Knowledge and General Awareness | 25 marks | 40 marks | Fact sheets and monthly current affairs |
Quantitative Aptitude | 25 marks | 40 marks | Formula sheets and shortcut methods |
English Comprehension | 25 marks | 200 marks | Grammar rules, vocabulary lists, passage practice |
Reasoning Notes
Reasoning is mostly practice-based, so your notes should record methods, not theory.
Coding-decoding and series: Write down common patterns, such as letter positions, alternate skips and square or cube series.
Syllogism and statement-conclusion: Keep a one-page summary of rules with Venn diagram examples.
Figure-based questions: Note the logic for paper folding, embedded figures and mirror images, with one solved example each.
Clerical matching: Record tricks for address matching and indexing, which are quick marks.
General Awareness Notes
GK is the subject where notes make the biggest difference, because it depends on memory.
Area | What to put in your notes |
|---|---|
History and culture | Timelines of major dynasties, freedom struggle events, dances and festivals by state |
Geography | Rivers and their origins, soils, national parks, major ports and passes |
Polity and Constitution | Key articles, fundamental rights and duties, constitutional bodies |
Economy | Budget terms, banking basics, key indices and reports |
Science | Everyday physics, chemistry and biology, diseases and vitamins |
India and its neighbours | Capitals, currencies, borders and recent agreements (the notice gives this special attention) |
Current affairs | Monthly one-page summaries: schemes, awards, sports, appointments and summits |
Keep static GK and current affairs in separate notebooks or files. Update current affairs every month rather than trying to cover a year in the final weeks.
Quantitative Aptitude Notes
Your Quant notes should be short enough to revise in 20 minutes.
Formula sheet: Percentage, profit and loss, simple and compound interest, time and work, time and distance, mixtures.
Algebra and geometry: Standard identities, triangle centres, circle theorems, properties of similar triangles.
Mensuration: Area and volume formulas for cone, cylinder, sphere, hemisphere, prism and pyramid.
Trigonometry: Standard ratio values, identities and complementary angle relations.
Data interpretation: Quick calculation methods for percentages and ratios in charts.
Add one solved example next to every formula. Seeing the method again is faster than rereading theory.
English Notes
English deserves the most space in your notes, because it carries 200 of the 320 marks in Paper 2.
Area | Notes approach |
|---|---|
Grammar | Rules for tenses, subject-verb agreement, articles, prepositions and modifiers, each with an example of a common error |
Vocabulary | A running list of new words, synonyms, antonyms and their usage |
Idioms and phrases | Themed lists with meanings and one example sentence |
Spellings | Commonly misspelt words from previous papers |
Comprehension | Short notes on passage types and question patterns (main idea, inference, tone, vocabulary in context) |
Add 10 new words and five idioms to your notes every day, and revise the full list once a week.
How to Make SSC CPO Notes That Work
Keep them short: Aim for one page per topic. Long notes are hard to revise.
Use tables and lists: They are easier to scan than paragraphs.
Mark mistakes: After every mock test, add the concepts you got wrong to the relevant page.
Separate static and dynamic material: Static facts rarely change, while current affairs need monthly updates.
Follow the official syllabus: Tick off each topic from the notice as your notes cover it.
A Simple Revision Plan
When | What to revise |
|---|---|
Daily | Vocabulary list, one Quant formula sheet, current affairs of the day |
Weekly | One full GK subject, grammar rules, reasoning methods |
Monthly | Current affairs summary and all error notes from mock tests |
Final two weeks | Complete formula sheets, GK fact sheets and English lists, twice over |
Notes and Mock Tests Work Together
Notes help you remember, and mock tests show whether you can apply that knowledge under time pressure. Revise a topic from your notes, attempt a sectional test on it, then update your notes with anything you got wrong. This loop builds both memory and speed
