SSC MTS Cut Off 2026

The SSC MTS cut off is not one number. SSC fixes separate cut-offs for MTS and Havaldar, for each state or region, for each category and, for MTS, for each age group. All of them are based on normalised marks in Session II, which is out of 150.

Qualifying Marks vs Cut-Off

Two different thresholds apply. The minimum qualifying marks only make you eligible to be considered. The cut-off is the score of the last candidate selected, and it is usually much higher.

What These Numbers Tell You

  • Region matters as much as category. The UR cut-off ranged from about 108 (Mumbai Customs) to about 142 (Delhi CGST), a gap of more than 34 marks for the same post.

  • More seats mean lower cut-offs. Mumbai Customs had the largest intake, with 1,393 UR candidates shortlisted, and the lowest cut-off. Regions with few seats, such as Delhi and Jaipur, were the toughest.

  • Reserved categories can be higher than UR. In Jaipur CGST, the OBC cut-off (143.53) was above the UR cut-off (139.37) because very few OBC seats were available.

  • General Awareness breaks ties. When scores are equal, SSC looks at General Awareness marks in Session II first, then Session I marks, then date of birth (older first), then name.

Factors That Decide the SSC MTS Cut Off

  • Vacancies in your state, region and category.

  • Number of candidates competing for those vacancies.

  • Paper difficulty across shifts, adjusted through normalisation.

  • Your preferences for posts and states or regions in the application form.

  • Age group for MTS, since the 18-25 and 18-27 groups have separate cut-offs.

What Score Should You Target?

For Havaldar in 2025, most UR cut-offs fell between 118 and 143 out of 150. For a safe preparation target, aim for 130 or more in Session II in full-length mocks, and higher if your preferred state or region has historically been competitive. Treat this as a practice goal, not a guaranteed selection score.

Take full-length SSC MTS mock tests on Testkart and compare your Session II score with the cut-off for your preferred region. Tracking this gap every week tells you exactly how far you are from a selection-level score
