UP PGT Eligibility 2026: Qualification and Age Limit
UP PGT eligibility for 2026 depends on your subject, your qualification and your age on 1 July 2026. The Uttar Pradesh Education Services Selection Commission (UPESSC) invites applications under Advertisement No. 06/2026 for Post Graduate Teachers in aided secondary schools, and each subject has its own qualification rule.
This page summarises the rules from published summaries of the notification. They are not a substitute for the notification itself, so verify your subject's rule on the official UPESSC website before you apply or pay any fee.

The general rule is a Master's degree in the concerned subject from a recognised university, with a B.Ed from an NCTE-recognised institution. Because the post is a Post Graduate Teacher position, the postgraduate subject should match the subject you apply for.
Some subjects follow their own rule, as reported in summaries of the notification:
Physical Education: A bachelor's degree with M.P.Ed.
Biology: A Master's in Botany or Zoology, with B.Ed.
History: A Master's in Ancient, Medieval or Modern History, with B.Ed.
Home Science: A Master's or B.Sc in Home Science, with B.Ed.
Music and Drawing: Specific degree or diploma rules apply, so read the notification.
Reports differ on the details for some subjects, so treat this list as a guide and use the notification as the final word. Keep your degree certificates and marksheets ready for document verification.
Age Limit
Age is counted as on 1 July 2026. The minimum is 21 years. The upper limit is reported as 62 years, which summaries link to the age of retirement under the service rules. Date of birth is taken from the High School certificate.
