VITEEE 2027 Eligibility Criteria: Marks, Age, Subjects and Nationality

VITEEE eligibility depends on three things: your Class 12 subjects and marks, your date of birth, and your nationality. Vellore Institute of Technology sets these rules for B.Tech admission to its Vellore, Chennai, AP and Bhopal campuses, and you must meet all of them at the time of admission, not just at the time of applying.

VIT has not yet released the VITEEE 2027 prospectus. The criteria below are the official VITEEE 2026 rules. VIT keeps these broadly stable, but the date-of-birth cut-off moves forward each year, so confirm the 2027 figures in the prospectus. This page covers qualification and marks, the PCM and PCB routes, age, nationality and the most common reasons candidates turn out to be ineligible.

Educational Qualification

You must have passed Class 12, or be appearing in it in the admission year, from a recognised central or state board. Equivalent qualifications from other recognised boards are accepted as set out in the prospectus. The marks rule is applied to the aggregate of the relevant subjects, not to your overall Class 12 percentage.

PCM route (MPCEA paper)

  • Subjects: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in Class 12.

  • Aggregate: At least 60% across the three subjects, or 50% for the relaxed categories.

  • Mathematics minimum: At least 50% in Mathematics on its own.

  • Programmes: Open to all B.Tech programmes offered through VITEEE.

PCB route (BPCEA paper)

  • Subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Biology in Class 12.

  • Aggregate: At least 60% across the three subjects, or 50% for the relaxed categories.

  • Biology minimum: At least 50% in Biology on its own.

  • Programmes: Limited to a specific list (below).

VIT Vellore

B.Tech Bioengineering

VIT Bhopal

B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering (Health Informatics)

VIT Bhopal

This list can change each year. Check the 2027 prospectus before you choose the BPCEA paper.

If you have both Mathematics and Biology

If you studied PCM and Biology, you can choose either paper as long as you meet the marks rule for that route. Pick MPCEA if you want access to the full programme list, and BPCEA only if your preferred programme is on the PCB list.

Age Limit

For VITEEE 2026, candidates had to be born on or after 1 July 2004. There is no lower age limit stated. VIT has not yet confirmed the date for 2027. Based on the pattern of previous cycles, it is expected to move forward by one year, but treat that as tentative until the 2027 prospectus is out. VIT does not list a separate category-wise age relaxation in its eligibility summary.

Nationality

  • Resident Indians: Eligible to apply through VITEEE.

  • Non-Resident Indians: Eligible to apply. NRI candidates can also choose a test centre abroad, where the application fee is the equivalent of USD 90.

  • OCI and PIO card holders: Eligible to apply.

  • Foreign nationals: Not covered by the VITEEE route. VIT runs separate international admissions, so check vit.ac.in for that process.

Other Conditions

  • One attempt only: You can appear for VITEEE only once in a cycle. Appearing more than once can lead to cancellation of your candidature.

  • Result deadline: If you are appearing in Class 12, you must meet the marks rule when your result comes out. Admission is provisional until then.

  • Category proof: Candidates claiming the 50% relaxation must produce a valid community or nativity certificate at counselling.

Who Is Not Eligible

  • Below the subject aggregate: For example, 58% across PCM is below the 60% rule for general candidates, even if your overall Class 12 percentage is higher.

  • Below the single-subject minimum: A PCM aggregate of 65% with 48% in Mathematics does not qualify.

  • Wrong programme for the stream: PCB candidates cannot take a seat in core engineering branches such as Mechanical or Computer Science and Engineering (core).

  • Born before the cut-off date: Candidates born before the date set for the cycle are not eligible.

  • Second attempt in the same cycle: Appearing twice leads to cancellation.
