Maharashtra Police Constable Cut Off 2024-25: Unit-wise Merit Marks
There is no single statewide Maharashtra Police Constable cut off. Each police unit prepares its own category-wise merit list from the physical test (50 marks) and written test (100 marks), so the cut off is the lowest total among selected candidates in each category of that unit, out of 150. Before that, you must clear two qualifying bars: 50 percent in the physical test and 40 percent in the written test.
The figures below are taken from provisional selection lists that units published on the official website for the 2024-25 Police Shipai Bharti. They are indicative, not official cut-off notices. Use them as a benchmark only.
Qualifying marks
Stage | Minimum to qualify |
|---|---|
Physical test | 25 out of 50 (50 percent), then 1:10 shortlisting per category |
Written test | 40 out of 100 (40 percent) |
Clearing these bars only makes you eligible. Selection depends on where your combined total ranks against others in your unit and category.

These are the lowest totals among general candidates (not selected under a parallel reservation such as women, ex-servicemen or police wards) in each unit's police constable provisional selection list. Thane Rural figures cover male general candidates. Final lists can change after document verification. Indicative figures from older cycles, such as SRPF group lists from 2022-23, use a different physical test and are not comparable.
Trend and how units differ
The gap between the two units is large: Nagpur City's open cut off is 14 marks higher than Thane Rural's. City commissionerates with many applicants per post often close higher than rural units, but this is not a fixed rule. Parallel reservation lists for women, ex-servicemen and others usually close lower than the general list of the same category.
What affects the cut off
Vacancies in your unit and category: More seats mean the list goes deeper.
Number of applicants: Popular units attract more candidates for each post.
Physical test scores: High physical marks across the field push combined totals up.
Paper difficulty: Each unit sets its own paper, so a harder paper lowers totals in that unit.
NCC bonus marks: Five bonus marks for NCC C certificate holders can lift some totals.
How to set your target
Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat last year's figures as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above them rather than a bare pass.
Physical target: Aim for 40 or more out of 50, so you are safe in the 1:10 shortlist and start the merit with a cushion.
Written target: Aim for 85 or more out of 100. With a 40 physical score, that gives a total of about 125, above the Thane Rural open benchmark and close to Nagpur City's 127. For large city units, aim higher still.
Mock benchmark: Consistently score 85 or more in full-length 100-question mocks before the written test.
Unit lists, including the provisional selection lists used here, are on the official unit-wise recruitment results page.
