Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education – Class 12

The MP Board 12th exam is the Higher Secondary (Class 12) board examination conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE), Bhopal. Around 7 lakh students took the Class 12 papers in 2026, across Science, Commerce, Arts, Agriculture, Home Science, Fine Arts and vocational subjects. The 2027 exam closes the 2026-27 academic session.

The board released the 2027 main and second exam time table on 13 August 2026, so the dates are already fixed. MP Board 12th Time Table 2027

The 2027 schedule runs in a single morning shift. Students should reach the centre by 8:00 am; entry closes at 8:45 am, and question papers are handed out before the 9:00 am start. The table below lists the main subjects as reported from the official time table.

The board can change dates if a holiday is declared, and some reports list the last paper differently. Check your subject dates against the official time table PDF on the MPBSE time table page and your admit card.

Streams and Subjects

Class 12 subjects follow the stream (faculty) you chose in Class 11. Hindi and English are the common language papers for most students.

• Science (Mathematics group): Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics.

• Science (Biology group): Physics, Chemistry, Biology.

• Commerce: Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, with Mathematics or another option.

• Arts (Humanities): History, Political Science, Geography, Economics, Sociology, Psychology and others.

• Agriculture, Home Science and Fine Arts: stream-specific subjects with practical components.

• Vocational (NSQF): skill subjects offered in selected schools.

Exam Pattern: Theory and Practical Marks

Each subject carries 100 marks. Subjects with laboratory or field work use a 70 plus 30 split, while languages and most Commerce and Arts subjects use an 80 plus 20 split with a project or internal assessment.

Papers open with objective questions (multiple choice, fill in the blanks, true or false, matching, one-word answers), followed by very short, short and long answer questions, most of them with internal choice. For 2026-27 the board revised its question format towards concept and application questions and published subject-wise marking schemes in the Academics section of its website. Older pages may still show the previous pattern, so use the 2026-27 scheme.

Syllabus Summary

MPBSE follows NCERT textbooks for most Class 12 Science, Commerce and Social Science subjects, and its own textbooks for Hindi, Sanskrit and some other subjects. The table gives the high-weight areas to start with.

Passing Marks and Divisions

You need at least 33% in each subject. Where a subject has a practical or internal component, theory and practical must be passed separately, so a strong practical score cannot cover a weak theory score.

• 70 plus 30 subjects: about 23 out of 70 in theory and 10 out of 30 in practical.

• 80 plus 20 subjects: about 26 out of 80 in theory and 7 out of 20 in internal assessment.

• Divisions: results are issued with First, Second and Third divisions; 60% and above is commonly reported as First Division.

Second Exam: Your Second Chance

From 2025, MPBSE replaced the old supplementary exam with a second board exam held a few weeks after the main result. In 2026 it ran from 7 to 25 May for Class 12.

• Who can appear: students who failed or were absent in one or more subjects, and students who passed but want to improve marks.

• Which marks count: if you sit both exams in a subject, the higher score is used.

• Practicals: you repeat only the component you failed.

• 2027 dates: reported as 11 to 30 June 2027; confirm in the official schedule.

Separately, the MP State Open School runs the Ruk Jana Nahi scheme for students who did not clear the board exam and want another route to complete Class 12.

How to Prepare for the MP Board 12th Exam 2027

1. October to November: finish the remaining chapters from your textbooks and make short notes for each one.

2. December: start chapter-wise tests and previous year papers; write answers within the word limits the paper asks for.

3. January: take full-length timed papers every week and keep an error log; complete practical files and project work.

4. February to March: use the gaps in the time table for subject-specific revision, especially the four days before Mathematics and the gap before Chemistry.
