Dates marked "as reported" come from news coverage and could not be checked against an official notice. For anything new, track the official RSMSSB Junior Accountant page instead.

Vacancy Details

The original 2013 advertisement was widely reported as 3,491 Junior Accountant and 156 TRA posts. The October 2014 corrigendum was reported to add 108 TSP area posts (103 JA and 5 TRA), and around 3,776 posts were reported at the exam stage. These figures are indicative, because the advertisement PDF itself could not be verified for this page.

Eligibility for the RPSC Junior Accountant Exam

Educational qualification

Candidates needed a degree in Arts, Science or Commerce from a recognised university, plus one of the computer qualifications listed in the advertisement (such as NIELIT "O" Level, COPA or DPCS, or RS-CIT, as reported). Working knowledge of Hindi in Devanagari script and of Rajasthani culture was also required.

Age limit

The age limit was 21 to 35 years, with upper age relaxation for reserved categories, women, widows and persons with disabilities as per Rajasthan rules. The full breakdown is on the RPSC Junior Accountant eligibility page.

RPSC Junior Accountant Exam Pattern

The written exam had two objective papers. Both counted towards the merit list.

Paper

Questions

Marks

Time

Paper I (general subjects)

150

450

2 hours 30 minutes

Paper II (accounts and rules)

150

450

2 hours 30 minutes

Total

300

900

5 hours

Each question carried 3 marks. Negative marking was reported as one-third of the marks for a question, which should be confirmed in the official scheme.

  • Paper II decides ranks: Accountancy, auditing and rules questions reward exact recall, so they separate candidates more than general subjects.

  • Guessing costs marks: With a one-third penalty, a wrong answer wipes out a third of a correct one, so skip questions you cannot narrow down.

  • Both papers carry minimum marks: A weak paper can disqualify you even with a strong total.

Older pages may describe a single 150-question paper. The RPSC 2013 cycle had two papers, so read the RPSC Junior Accountant exam pattern page for details.

The topic lists are built from the subject names in the scheme and questions from previous RPSC papers. Use them as a working checklist and see the full RPSC Junior Accountant syllabus.

Selection Process

  1. Written exam: Paper I and Paper II, with minimum qualifying marks in each paper.

  2. Merit list: Combined marks out of 900 decided rank, category and post.

  3. Document verification: Provisionally selected candidates submitted a detailed application form with certificates to the Commission.

Salary of a Junior Accountant

At the time of the 2013 cycle, the post was reported in Pay Band Rs. 9,300 to 34,800 with Grade Pay Rs. 3,600. Rajasthan has since moved to the 7th Pay Commission pay matrix, so current pay level and in-hand salary should be taken from the latest RSMSSB notification. These pay figures are indicative, not official for any upcoming cycle.

How to Prepare Using the RPSC Papers

  • Start with Paper II: Build bookkeeping, auditing and rules first, because they need the most time and carry the most scoring weight.

  • Keep Paper I steady: Spend daily time on Rajasthan GK, Hindi and English, and weekly time on maths and computer basics.

  • Solve the RPSC 2015 and 2016 papers: They show the question style and the depth expected in rules and accounts.

  • Move to timed mocks: Practise both papers back to back to build stamina for five hours of objective questions.
