RPSC Junior Accountant Cut-off: JA and TRA Marks from the 2013 Cycle
RPSC Junior Accountant Cut-off Explained
The RPSC Junior Accountant cut-off is the lowest combined score out of 900 at which candidates in each category were provisionally selected, after clearing the minimum marks in both papers. Junior Accountant (JA) and Tehsil Revenue Accountant (TRA) had separate cut-offs, even though both posts used the same exam.
The only RPSC cut-offs available are from the 2013 cycle, with the result declared on 7 November 2016 and revised in February 2017 after a High Court order on the answer key. RPSC no longer conducts this recruitment, and the latest cycle was run by RSMSSB, so see the RSMSSB Junior Accountant cut-off for newer figures. Treat the RPSC numbers below as a benchmark only.
RPSC Junior Accountant Cut-off (November 2016 Result, out of 900)
Category | Junior Accountant | TRA |
|---|---|---|
General | 583.91 | 616.17 |
General (women) | 507.65 | 531.34 |
OBC | 571.17 | 605.63 |
SBC | 549.22 | 597.93 |
SC | 478.30 | 537.48 |
ST | 458.92 | 549.98 |
TSP General | 504.32 | 571.12 |
TSP SC | 425.20 | 471.23 |
TSP ST | 312.52 | 453.20 |
These figures are taken from news coverage of the 7 November 2016 result. The "General (women)" row is the reported women sub-category figure. Some sub-category labels in the coverage were not defined, so the RPSC result notice is the final word.
Revised Result Cut-off (February 2017, as Reported)
After the High Court ordered changes to the answer key, RPSC issued a revised result. SBC category posts were withheld at that stage because of pending litigation, as reported.
Category | Junior Accountant | TRA |
|---|---|---|
General | 588.65 | 618.65 |
OBC | 574.17 | 607.88 |
SC | Not reported | 541.43 |
ST | 461.69 | 552.89 |
TSP General | 507.63 | 575.44 |
TSP SC | 426.74 | 471.33 |
TSP ST | 314.97 | 452.89 |
The revised figures come from a single news report and are indicative only.
What the Numbers Show
TRA cut-offs were higher: General TRA needed about 30 more marks than General JA, because TRA had far fewer posts.
General and OBC were close: The gap was around 10 to 15 marks, so OBC candidates should not plan on a large cushion.
About 65% was needed for General JA: 583.91 out of 900 is roughly 65%, well above the paper-wise qualifying marks.
What Affects the Cut-off
Vacancies: More posts usually lower the cut-off, as with JA versus TRA.
Paper difficulty: Tougher accounts or rules questions pull scores down.
Applicants: About 3.6 lakh candidates were reported to have appeared in October 2016.
Answer key changes: Deleted or corrected questions can move cut-offs, as the 2017 revision showed.
How to Set Your Target
Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat these figures as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above them rather than a bare pass. A practical target is 620 or more out of 900 in mocks for General JA, with neither paper close to its minimum. The official result notices are on the RPSC website.
