United India Insurance Company Assistant

UIIC Assistant is a recruitment exam conducted by United India Insurance Company for assistant-cadre recruitment, relevant to candidates preparing for insurance and financial-sector recruitment.

UIIC Assistant Study Material

The UIIC Assistant exam is the recruitment test for Assistant posts at United India Insurance Company Limited (UIIC), a public sector general insurance company owned by the Government of India. UIIC hires Assistants through an online objective exam followed by a Regional Language Test, and vacancies are filled state by state.

This page explains how the recruitment works and where it stands today. UIIC's careers page currently lists only the Assistants 2023 recruitment under the Assistant heading, so the figures below come from that last official advertisement (published 14 December 2023). No new Assistant notification was visible there at the time of writing, so treat every detail as a guide to the likely next cycle, not a promise of it.

Notification status

The last Assistant recruitment was advertised on 14 December 2023, and the online exam followed in February 2024. UIIC has announced a separate 2026 recruitment for Administrative Officers, but that is a different post with its own rules. Some preparation sites expect a new Assistant notification soon. UIIC has not confirmed this, so do not plan around a date until it appears on the official recruitment page.

The practical approach is to prepare on the existing pattern now. The pattern has been stable, and the skills tested (reasoning, English, numerical ability, general knowledge and computer literacy) carry over even if details change. Older and third-party pages may show estimates as facts, so follow only the UIIC notification once it is out.

Selection process

  1. Online examination: a 250-mark objective test, with a minimum score required in each test as well as overall.

  2. Regional Language Test: shortlisted candidates must qualify in the language of their chosen state, and bring original documents for verification.

  3. Merit list and medical fitness: the final merit list is state-wise and category-wise, in descending order of online exam marks, subject to qualifying the Regional Language Test and medical fitness.

UIIC may also prepare a contingency list in case selected candidates do not accept the offer.

Salary and career growth

The advertised pay scale starts at Rs. 22,405 and runs up to Rs. 62,265 through a series of increments. UIIC stated that total emoluments work out to about Rs. 37,000 a month in the initial stage in a metro city, with allowances varying by place of posting. This is the company's own estimate for that cycle, and actual take-home pay depends on city and current rules.

Selected candidates are on probation for a minimum of 6 months and are required to serve at the posted location for at least five years. The post is permanent, with benefits such as medical cover, leave travel subsidy and staff welfare schemes as per company rules.

How to prepare

With 40 questions in each test and a composite time limit, balance matters more than a single strong subject. A realistic plan has three phases.

  • Build the base: cover reasoning, arithmetic and English grammar topic by topic, and read the news daily for general awareness.

  • Practise by section: take short timed tests on weak areas and keep an error log of every wrong answer.

  • Simulate the exam: attempt full-length 200-question papers in 120 minutes, review each one on the same day and revise the error log.

For timed practice in the current pattern, you can attempt UIIC Assistant mock tests on Testkart and use the section-wise analysis to plan revision. Also read how to use UIIC Assistant study notes alongside them.

Cut-off reference

For the 2023 cycle, UIIC published state-wise and category-wise cut-offs applied on the total score out of 250, along with a minimum of 5 marks in each of the five tests. In many states, the unreserved cut-off sat roughly between 190 and 206 marks. The UIIC Assistant cut-off page has sample state figures. Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants, so treat last year's figures as a benchmark only and aim for a clear margin above them.
