UIIC Assistant Eligibility 2026: Age, Qualification and Language

UIIC Assistant eligibility has three core conditions: a graduate degree from a recognised university, an age between 21 and 30 years with category-wise relaxation, and knowledge of the regional language of the state you apply for. The rules below come from the last Assistant advertisement of United India Insurance Company Limited (UIIC), dated 14 December 2023.

No newer Assistant notification was listed on the UIIC recruitment page at the time of writing. Every date in the rules (for example the age reference date) will be reset in the next notification, so use this page to check your profile in advance and then confirm against the new advertisement.

Educational qualification

Candidates needed a graduate degree from a recognised university. The advertisement did not restrict the stream, so graduates of any discipline were eligible. The degree had to be completed on or before the cut-off date (30 September 2023 in the last cycle).

One rule catches many applicants: those who had written the final examination of their qualification but whose results were declared after the cut-off date were not eligible. If your final result is pending, check the new cut-off date before you pay the fee.

Age limit and relaxation

The minimum age was 21 years and the maximum age 30 years as on 30 September 2023. Only candidates born between 1 October 1993 and 30 September 2002, both days inclusive, could apply. The upper age limit was relaxed for the categories below.

The advertisement also lists special relaxations for persons ordinarily domiciled in the Kashmir Division of the former State of Jammu and Kashmir between 1 January 1980 and 31 December 1989, and for residents of Assam between 1 January 1980 and 15 August 1985. Read that clause directly in the notification before you claim it.

Where a candidate qualifies for more than one relaxation, the relaxation is cumulative, but the age cannot exceed 45 years. Candidates claiming relaxation must submit certificates for verification at the Regional Language Test or a later stage.

Language and other conditions

  • Regional language: knowledge of reading, writing and speaking the language of the state you apply for is essential, and candidates must qualify in the Regional Language Test after the online exam.

  • One state only: candidates can apply for vacancies in one state and choose an exam centre in that state only.

  • Ex-servicemen: the date of discharge from service must be on or before 30 September 2023 (the last cycle's cut-off date), and the status is defined by the Government of India rules referred to in the advertisement.

  • Reserved categories: SC, ST, OBC, EWS and benchmark disability claims need certificates from the competent authorities named in the advertisement. For EWS, the family income limit in that notice was below Rs. 8 lakh a year, along with asset conditions.

  • Medical fitness: provisional selection is subject to medical fitness.

Who is not eligible

  • Result declared after the cut-off date: candidates who wrote the final exam before the date but received results later.

  • Outside the age window: candidates younger than 21 or older than 30 after applying all relaxations they are entitled to.

  • Without regional language knowledge: candidates who cannot read, write and speak the language of the chosen state.

  • Mismatched details: candidates whose original documents do not match their application data. Application data cannot be changed after registration is completed.

Fee and documents

The fee in the last cycle was Rs. 1,000 plus GST for general applicants and Rs. 250 plus GST for SC, ST, PwBD and permanent company employees. Bring original documents and a self-attested photocopy of each (proof of identity, category, age and qualification) to the Regional Language Test.

Read the original rules on the UIIC recruitment page.
